The Department of Internal Medicine (IM) is committed to encouraging and supporting early career researchers. The mentoring network has been designed to assist IM faculty in developing their research portfolio from developing ideas, pilot data collection, grant development and submission. This will involve both group and individual meetings. The goal is to have 6 to 8 enthusiastic faculty involved over the next year.
Applying for this program serves several purposes. The first is to assure that you have an area of research interest (although this does not need to be fine tuned). Second, the goal is to get your commitment to attend the meetings, to work with the mentors and to establish benchmarks for success. Finally, to assure that your division chair is supportive both in theory as well as in potential need for time and resources.
