VCU Internal Medicine Training Program
2008 ABIM Performance Improvement Modules
The ABIM PIMsm Practice Improvement Module (PIM) is a Web-based tool that enables physicians to conduct a confidential self-evaluation of the medical care that they provide. PIMs help physicians gain knowledge about their practices through analysis of data from the practice, and the development and implementation of a plan to target areas for improvement.
Eight clinic groups from our Internal Medicine Housestaff created quality improvement projects from PIM topics. These projects were presented to and voted on by their colleagues in June of 2008. The winner of the PIM projects was the Tuesday morning clinic group for their presentation on Obesity.
In the 2008-09 academic year the residency training program will be implementing the Obesity proposal and will reassess how the clinic performs on obesity measures.
