VCU Internal Medicine Training Program
Consult & Subspecialty Rotations

Elective rotations provide training opportunities in core subspecialties. We require five core subspecialties over the three-year period:

• Endocrine or rheumatology
• Gastroenterology or hepatology
• Infectious diseases
• Nephrology
• Pulmonary

Subspecialty electives include consultative and ambulatory experiences and encourage creative, nontraditional electives. We also offer and encourage research electives. Off-site rotations are available with full pay and benefits (one-month limit). We also offer two-week electives so that individuals can combine experiences.
