Internal Medicine Curriculum

Summer Core Conference Series
July 7 – August 25, 2009

For the summer series from 7/7/09 through 8/25/09, all classes will have separate conferences by class to address specific goals related to levels of training.

PGY-1: Interns will have a core conference series of basic topics to prepare for common topics and patients. MCV will meet in N9 conference room. VA will meet in 4D conference room.

PGY-2: Residents will have either simulation or evidence based medicine training at MCV only. VA residents will come over to MCV for these sessions as scheduled and able. Simulation sessions are in Main Hospital 6th floor simulation center. EBM sessions are in the GME conference room on West 6 south hallway.

Coverage: All sessions are mandatory for residents on electives and ambulatory rotations, MCV/VA wards and heme onc unless on long call, ACE team except one resident, Digestive Health while not on call. VA residents will receive coverage from long call team and will come to MCV for sessions. MCV wards will be covered by bridge.

PGY-3/4: Residents will have a combination of case-based presentations, business of medicine lectures and end of life/communication skills training. Most sessions will be held at MCV in the West Hospital 5th floor Housestaff Library. Sessions on August 11, 18th, and 25th will be held in the Molecular Medicine Research Building (aka MSB 2) Room 1009/1011 from 3 pm to 5 pm.
