Porter's Rounds is starting again this Wednesday, October 10th at 5pm. For those of you who were not able to attend these last year, please make an effort to join us this year. The initial idea was to have a forum that would allow faculty and housestaff (interns, residents and fellows) to get together in an informal setting to discuss an unknown case (i.e. a group CPC). Our hope was that we would all learn a little from each other how to approach different scenarios, formulate a differential diagnosis, and create a treatment plan. For most of the conferences, we will also have the patient there to interview, adding a new dimension to most of our other conferences (or old, depending on how well you know your medical education history). The feedback from last year was extremely positive. We all learned a tremendous amount from each other and even managed to have a good time doing it. The patients who were kind enough to participate also viewed their involvement very positively.

Conferences are typically the second Wednesday of each month from 5-6pm and are held in the Alumni House on the second floor. Come a few minutes early and enjoy some refreshments with your colleagues.

I would also like to say thank you to those who have submitted cases already and invite others to do the same.

So here's the schedule for the fall. We will have the patient participating in all but the first case.

Thanks,
Lisa K. Brath, MD, FCCP
Associate Professor of Medicine
